IGNITING THE GROWTH AND PROSPERITY OF AFRICA AND ITS GLOBAL DIASPORA

DATI provides advisory, consulting, capacity-building, and technical assistance services to businesses, governments, and multilateral institutions in order to increase trade and investment for Africa and its global diaspora.

What is DATI?

Diaspora Africans in Trade and Investment (DATI) is a private sector non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing trade and investment between continental Africa and its global diaspora. The diaspora in DATI refers to Africans removed, whether voluntarily or involuntarily, from the African continent within one generation or over twenty generations. This diaspora population represents a significant consumer base, knowledge network, and capital pool that can be tapped for bilateral trade, skills transfer, and investment.

DATI seeks to engage and inform Africa’s global diaspora and diaspora-related private sector entrepreneurial, civic, and governmental organizations, as well as their counterparts on the African continent about the myriad opportunities and resources for trade in goods and services amongst them, in addition to educating them on how to engage the complex investment landscape in Africa.

Why We Exist

The United Nations estimates the trade potential of Africa at $3.4 trillion. Investment in Africa will be an integral part of achieving that potential. The African diaspora population worldwide is estimated at over 160 million people. This population represents a significant consumer base, knowledge network, and capital pool that can be tapped for bilateral trade, skills transfer, and investment. DATI seeks to mobilize the African diaspora's significant political, economic, and cultural influence to support the economic development of both the African continent and its diaspora.
